CAMERA BASED WIRE ROPE SCANNERS TO
AUTOMATE THE INSPECTION PROCESS
Why Rope Eye?
Camera Based Rope Inspection
Rope Eye is a high performance camera based scanning system developed to automate wire rope inspections. A full recording of the rope’s surface is saved for off location review by a qualified inspector* at their convenience.
AI machine learning will also provide the inspector with a list of all recognized defect types and locations for the inspector to accept or reject.
Accuracy at Speed
Due to our high speed of up to 30ft / sec, tests can be performed with your system at full capacity while the inspector performing other duties.
-
Human rope inspection is inherently inaccurate.
-
Only 1/3 of the rope is visible to the inspector.
-
Defect miss rates as high as 75%
-
The system must be slowed to under 2 ft/sec.
-
Requires long periods of concentration and focus.
-
Unsafe and poor ergonomic conditions.
Ease of Use
To easily conduct scheduled rope inspections, we have designed the system to be mounted quickly and securely to permanent mounting fixtures allowing your team to begin each test within minutes.
Documentation
Every test of your rope condition is digitally documented so any changes can be traced over its entire lifecycle. This documentation limits your exposure by providing an ironclad record of all defects, diameter changes, and lay length changes or other potentially unsafe conditions.
Always On - Always Safe
For high traffic, business critical lifts, Rope Eye is permanently mounted to live up to our moto “Always On - Always Safe”. This provides the user with continual status and automatic notification of any recognized unsafe condition in the system.
FUTURE DEVELOMENTS
At Rope Eye we are dedicated to innovation.
Here are a few of the technologies we are working on.
Robotic Climbing
For difficult areas to access such as guy wires, bridge ropes, and large cranes, Rope Eye is currently developing a remote controlled climber robot to solve the problems of safety, downtime, and ergonomics of working is such areas.
Curtain Scanners
Future plans include a wide camera array to facilitate real time inspections of mission critical belts in the mining, shipping, and energy sectors.
These will be capable of finding tears, delaminations, and lacinging defects at speed up to 60'/sec
Future plans include a wide camera array to inspect multiple rope at once that are virtually impossible to properly insect by humans due to ergonomic and safety considerations.
